Shallot Style Sheet

Hey all, I'm reworking and expanding on some of the Onion Kids farm game stuff I did last year in preparation for sending out my portfolio to some people. These are style options for one of the three characters from the series, Shallot. These could be utilized as the basis for in game sprites, playing card illustrations, or game menu illustrations. Enjoy!

Timurlaine Costume Ideations

After spending some time sketching out costumes for the Eurychids I decided I wanted to take another shot at Timerlaine. His outfit felt a little dated compared to their street-wear inspired clothing. I'd had a clear idea of what I wanted Timerlaine to look like from the outset of the project, and I think I settled on a design prematurely as a result. With that in mind I decided to thumbnail out a bunch of quick variations to really dig into what his look was about. I also incorporated more references to modern body armor and military garb, trying to hit a balance between contemporary cuts and ancient materials like I found with the Eurychid costumes.

This final costume I put together by collaging elements from the thumbnails I liked, and then painting over them. Plus a bonus hardbody, enjoy!

Illustration progress

Here's a line cleanup with a bit of quick tone for an illustration I'm working on. This is intended to be part of a small series of illustrations, designs, and storyboards to use in a promotional package.

The scene here follows Bathaar- a young woman who has recently become the leader of her nomadic tribe, and Timurlane- a liason from the Asharid Empire, leading her people to new lands. They may come into contact with the viking characters I've posted here previously- check back later to see!

Some sketchbook stuff from a little while ago. Two mermaids and a desiccated puffer fish body at the RISD nature lab. The puffer fish body was really wild, its made up of all these little interlocking bony plates.

Norse Heima: Osprey Broods and Drepa WIP

I decided to expand on the environments I worked on earlier this year and create a series of illustrations and in scene assets to go along with them. These illustrations will depict a raid of one Viking community upon another. The two pieces here involve the primary antagonists of the story, Drepa and Lord Osprey. Drepa is Osprey's right hand man, a reliable field lieutenant and cruel assassin. The second pair of images show Osprey standing over a map plotting the details of his attack.

Jamestown Colony Work

This is the bulk of the work I did for a Sean Murray's World Building class this past fall. Most of it could use more work, but I'm putting it on hold for the time being. Enjoy!
